December 2017: Daxko Membership Index
MEMBERSHIPS COMPARED TO LAST YEAR
Active memberships for the month increased 4.37% compared to the previous year. This data reflects cumulative gains in total membership large enough to offset terminations during the same time period.
Active members are inclusive of all units with a status of “active” as of the last day of the month reported. Active memberships are cumulative by nature and impacted by past and current monthly rates.
MEMBERSHIPS COMPARED TO LAST MONTH
Active memberships for the month of December decreased 1.05% compared to the previous month. This data reflects a nominal cumulative loss in total membership.
New memberships for the month of December decreased 9.95% compared to the previous month. This greater decrease suggests a seasonal dip in join rates prior to January join season.
Rejoined memberships for the month of December decreased 2.39% compared to the previous month. This decrease suggests a modest negative seasonal trend in rejoin rates.
Terminated memberships for the month of December increased 39.30% compared to the previous month, which experienced a negative trend in terminations.

The Daxko Membership Index Report is published monthly by the Daxko Data Team. This snapshot of membership unit trends is based on transactional data from 600+ YMCAs that utilize Daxko Operations.
*Regions are defined geographically according to the National Geographic Society resource database.
*Year over Year (YoY) data represent benchmarking percentages from the same dates of the previous year (i.e. January 2017 data benchmarks against January 2016 data).
*Month over Month (MoM) data represent benchmarking percentages from the previous month to the current month (i.e. January 2017 against February 2017 data).
*Year/Month displays identical information to MoM percent change calculation over a rolling 13-month time period.
*Data for this report is compiled monthly and a full year of monthly snapshots are used.
