YMCA General Assembly: Twitter Recap Part I

By | Events & Happenings, Industry, Leadership, Programs, Uncategorized | No Comments

While YMCA General Assembly has concluded for now, those who were unable to attend and those who just want to relive the conference may wish to do so through social media. This year the Twittersphere was full of 140 character insights, images, and musings. There was so much information out there we felt it would provide an interesting look back. Here is the first part in our sampling of the 2013 General Assembly of YMCAs , or #2013GA:

Day 1 – Thursday, July 18, 2013

Day 2 – Friday, July 19, 2013

Don’t Miss Daxko at Booth #608

It only happens once every three years, and Daxko will be there! Twenty-one Daxko team members are counting down the days until they get to pack up and fly to Philadelphia for the four-day General Assembly of YMCAs beginning July 18th. If you’re also planning to attend, we know your agenda is already jam-packed with stimulating sessions, opportunities for professional development, and social events; we hope you’ll find time to connect with team Daxko while you’re there. Here are five ways you can meet us in Philly!

Having a Scary Good Time

Be someone else. Eat candy all day long. Get spooked. That’s the Halloween spirit! I think it’s possibly Daxko’s favorite holiday to celebrate. If you’ve followed our blog, Twitter feed, or Flickr photos, you know we go all out, and this year was no exception. Here, we’re actually encouraged to dress in costume (much to the dismay of the suit-and-tie crowd we share elevators with), and we love to share our candy. Here are just a few snapshots of our Halloween festivities:

Let’s All Huddle In

By | Culture | No Comments

You know that time of day when you start to feel a little stir crazy at your desk? It’s usually around 3:30 p.m. when you need to stand up, stretch your legs, and refresh. Our Daxko Engage Member Engagement Team has found an excellent way to combat this 3:30 p.m. feeling while also squeezing in a little team building time!

Every afternoon, Member Engagement Team Members stand up in their pods for a quick, 15-minute team “huddle” to play a game, enjoy a team building activity, get trained on a new process, or get a refresher on an old process. Each huddle is led by a team Coach, and it’s up to them to decide on a team activity.

Anyone visiting the 5th floor Engagement Center will know exactly when it’s huddle time. Suddenly, the whole floor is buzzing with energy and laughter! I’ve seen one pod huddle to learn a dance, and another huddle to talk about a person they admire most. I’ve even crashed a huddle to help detangle a human knot. Other favorite games have been Would You Rather, Two Truths and a Lie, and the Celebrity Game.

After each huddle, team members feel energized, more connected to their teammates, and are more inclined to spend the rest of the day focusing on their work. Sometimes, I get a little jealous of all the fun they’re having. Just check them out!
