Yes, time flies when you’re having fun. And we get lots of that at Daxko. But there are other things that make time fly too.
When I first joined Daxko I said, “I’ll work there for about 2 years to learn about Internet-based business, then I’ll move on. Last Friday I celebrated my FOURTEENTH Daxko anniversary. Outside of the fun and the super-thoughtful people I work with, here are the things I think made the past 14 years fly by…
Working on projects that utilize your strengths
When we center our work in areas where our greatest strengths are, we can get “lost” in what we’re doing…and that’s lost in a good way. For me, I love to promote my company, our services, our best customers, my teammates. When I get in the groove on things like a presentation, email copy, or webcast script, I can totally lose track of time and just stay in that zone.
I have never had a year at Daxko feel like the previous year. Our CEO believes strongly in getting team members to adapt easily to change, and even embrace it. One of the ways he accomplishes that is that every once in a while we just up and change the office layout and where we sit. We rotate in new perks and cycle out old ones. We change up the annual events, monthly meetings, and communication channels so our interactions with team members don’t get routine or predictable. The one thing we don’t change up is Chick-Fil-A biscuits for Daxko-wide meetings. We don’t mess with that tradition!
Because we really believe in offering career-defining, rewarding careers for our team members, we’re quick to throw out a challenge. We look at role changes as being more about a job assignment and less about a title on a business card. Several veteran team members, myself included, have changed roles every 12-18 months. Each time I start a new challenge it sparks a new passion. I get to work with a new set of people, and I have to prove myself in new ways. That really makes time fly.
We spend far more waking hours at work than at home, and Daxko has made that a really pleasant thing. The bright colors, clean lines, open space and modern look are really a pleasure to step into each morning.
It’s still hard to believe that I’ve spent 14 years in a tech company, but Daxko has made that fly. Now let the planning on my SECOND sabbatical begin!
