My previous post was about how, in many cases, associations have built bad habits around serving their members. Hopefully, you’ve made a conscious decision to focus on the little things that were being pushed to the wayside. Now it’s time to get healthy!
The word efficiency gets thrown around a lot, but it’s important because before you can drive involvement, you need to be good at running your business. Part of doing this is automating as much as you can. After you’ve done that, you need to shorten the number of steps it takes to do everything else. All of this is needed to pave the way for the other game-changing ideas you have.
Here are three steps you can take right now to make your association more productive.
- Empower your staff. Look for processes or questions that can only be handled by one person and train everyone. You might have some approval processes that can be removed. Eliminate bureaucracy that exists for the sake of bureaucracy.
- Push everyone to your website for the little things. Registrations, payments, and updating contact information can all be easily done through your website. (Make sure this isn’t adding any steps for your staff. Check out the Daxko Operations online functionality if your current software doesn’t do this easily.)
- Take advantage of your technology. Every operations software has tools built to specifically save you time. Have your administrator check to see if you’re using all of the tools that you could be. Make sure you have all of the available tools enabled, too. There might be new stuff out there that you’ve missed.
Remember, you’re paving the way for real impact! Read my next post and I’ll tell you how to get started.
