Alumni Spotlight: The Founders of MongoHQ

By July 1, 2011 3 Comments

It’s been a busy and exciting summer for Daxko alum and co-founders of MongoHQ Jason McCay and Ben Wyrosdick. The duo first met at Daxko and, in 2009, launched their own startup MongoHQ, a leading provider of data solutions for developers utilizing MongoDB.

Earlier this summer, MongoHQ was accepted into the prestigious Y Combinator program in Mountain View, CA. As part of the program, startups move to Silicon Valley for 3 months, during which they work intensively with Y Combinator experts  to get their company into the best possible shape and refine their pitch to investors. Three months of work culminates in a Demo Day, when startups present to a large audience of investors.

With Demo Day still 2 months away, MongoHQ is already impressing investors, having just secured substantial funding to boost its resources this summer.  MongoHQ plans to use the early investment to increase its infrastructure and hire additional engineers.

The highs continue for the MongoHQ team who, just this week, announced an integration with AppHarbor, a .NET platform-as-a-service provider, as an inaugural member of their Add-On platform.

“At MongoHQ, our primary goal is to provide tools and resources that allow developers to grow and manage their data layer quickly and efficiently, giving them more time to focus on what’s important, building a great product,” said McCay. “With the amazing growth of MongoDB in the .NET community, we are excited to be a part of AppHarbor’s new Add-On Platform, which makes it even easier for .NET developers to integrate MongoDB into their applications.”

Congratulations to Jason and Ben and the rest of the MongoHQ team! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this talented team.
