A month ago while I was on a call with a new customer, I got the call that no one ever wants to receive. My husband was having chest pains at work and needed to go to the emergency room. Thankfully, one of my co-workers Scarlett was on the call with me that day, and she took over from there. The next 48 hours were grueling. 9 hours spent in the emergency room, 4 hours spent in the emergency hospital before finally being admitted to a room, hours waiting on the doctor, sleeping on an archaic torture device the nurse kept calling a foldout bed, waiting and then waiting some more for the doctor to tell us the diagnosis.
It was chaotic and stressful, but it would have been so much worse without my Daxko family. Pete (my husband) and I don’t have any family in town, but my co-workers and friends made up for that. The night we waited 9 hours in the emergency room, Meg, our resident instructional designer, brought us dinner. Instead of scavenging for leftover Starbucks Scones, we had a real meal while we waited. The night we got home, Kathryn, trainer and all around amazing person, brought us a lovely plant to brighten things up a bit, and she showed off her soiree planning skills with homemade ziti and pastries with fresh fruit. And because Anne, my former training partner turned product specialist extraordinaire knows me so well, she got us a hilarious card with an O’Henrys gift card attached to it. There was no way we were making it through those days without being highly caffeinated.
Thankfully, Pete got good news, and he got a glimpse of what it’s like to be a part of the Daxko family. It reminded me all over again one of the main reasons I love being at Daxko: the people.
