You Can Help Alabama Recover

By | Community, Culture | No Comments

Wednesday, April 27, 2011, was a day of devastion for many people across Alabama. The storms of that day ripped through our state and left a wake of destruction for our families, our friends, and our communities.

In response to the events of that day, the Daxko Foundation is launching a giving campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise a total of at least $15,000 to support relief efforts for the impacted areas. Through the Daxko Foundation, we have set aside a “matching fund” of $7,500.

So, for every dollar a contributed to this campaign, the Daxko Foundation will match the first $7,500. The result would be a $15,000 gift from the Daxko Foundation to help those most affected by the tornadoes.

The combined funds will be contributed to the Alabama Tornado Recovery Fund, which was established and housed by the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. The fund is also supported by Community Foundations for the following regions: Black Belt, Central Alabama, Huntsville/Madison County, Limestone County, Northeast Alabama, Walker Area, and West Alabama.

Donations are welcomed from all those who want to help Alabama recover and rebuild. The campaign will end on Friday, May 20.

To make your gift, click here: Daxko Foundation: Alabama Tornado Recovery.

Complete the form on the page and follow the prompts. Once completed, you will receive an email confirmation of your tax-deductible gift for your records.

On behalf of the Daxko Foundation, thank you in advance for your support of our friends and neighbors.

An IMPACTful Success!

Last Friday, the DAXKO Foundation held its first ever Impact Day!

Team members took a day off from DAXKO to work at one (or more) of 3 volunteer sites.  It was hot.  It was dirty.  And it was well worth it!  Here’s the impact we had around the community…

  • Greater Birmingham Humane Society – Team members helped restore (read weed-whack, dig, clear brush, and haul dirt) the outdoor dog walking trail for Fido and his four-legged friends.
  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Birmingham – Our team worked up a sweat as they helped to build and raise walls and set trusses in the growing Wylam Oaks community.
  • Young Women’s Christian Association – We tackled the local YWCA’s computer lab to inventory, organize, and test all their equipment.  You should see the before and after photos on this one!

Over the next week or so, we’ll be posting about each project individually and in detail.  But for now… check out our Flickr collection.  Cool t-shirts, huh?

Foundation Reaches Across the Street & Across the Border

DAXKO’s an advocate for giving back to the community… however you define community. In the first quarter of 2010, the DAXKO Foundation’s been involved in two major projects – one just across the street and one across our nation’s borders.  Here’s how our team members have been giving back…

Several DAXKO volunteers spend one hour each week tutoring kids at the Shades Valley YMCA.  After-school tutoring sessions include help with homework, reading books, and other activities aimed at growing the minds of local kids.  It’s a win-win for everyone involved!

Through the generous donations of team members, company matching, and a few anonymous donors, the DAXKO Foundation was able to raise $9000 for Haiti relief efforts – almost double our goal!  The total donation was made to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund which is committed to disbursing 100% of dollars raised directly to relief efforts.

The Foundation’s already working to coordinate the next major project with details to follow soon…
