Health Tips Just in Time for Summer

As summer time approaches, I am thinking of last minute ways I can drop just a few more pounds. I am determined to get back into that dress from last year! So I took a look around Daxko and found the inspiration I needed from our Member Engagement Team (MET). On May 4th, they celebrated Healthy MET Day by getting outside the office and bringing to the table some good food and great music. This was all sparked by Healthy Kids Day, an annual event hosted by the YMCA to encourage kids and parents to stay active. So I visited with the several of Daxko’s Member Engagement Reps to see what tips they had to share.

  1. Team Building outdoors is healthy and fun! Who knew a little fresh air away from your desk could spark so many interesting conversations… like how to make mac n’ cheese with Jeronzo S., Raven L., and Jamal M. How Shaq lost his leg with Delphine. (Not the basketball player, but Shaq the Mastiff.) And last but not least, I chatted it up with Kimberly J. about her most recent referral – her mom! Who, by the way, we hired the following week.
  2. Healthy food can be as simple as rolling sushi and as complex as chopping fruit! So, I’m not a sushi pro, but Will T. sure rolled it up like one. He surprised me with another hidden talent and recipe for his own version of spicy shrimp. I was lucky enough to get a sample fresh off the rolling mat in the Garage Café. It was so tasty, but I’m still not an onion fan, Timothy W. I also found Kendall S. laboring over delicious fresh fruit to add to the dining mix. Did anyone ever find that knife?
  3. Music is good for the soul! I’ve always heard music is good for the soul and it’s so true.  We were entertained by our very own skilled vocalist Chelsea W. singing to the tunes of her guitar. She entertained us with a few of her favorite songs, including ‘We All Want Love’ by Rhianna. Some of us even gave our vocals a work out by singing along. (I don’t know if that was good or bad.)

Inspiration is all around us here at Daxko whether it’s for losing weight, eating better, or healthy team building! I am looking forward to learning more from our MET.
